Program Managers are responsible for the overall business management of projects from development through production.  Internally, Program Managers play the dual role of client advocate and VE-team advocate.  Publicly, we are ambassadors to VE, our processes and our beliefs.  Our goals are numerous.  We must ensure high quality work is delivered on time and on budget, create a supportive and efficient production environment and maintain and build on client relationships before, during, and after projects.  Program Managers must also be the internal voice of reason that ensures profitable and healthy projects for VE. Essential Functional duties (most important parts of job):
Program Managers manage large projects from inception through completion and support the Executive Program Managers in the running of the Program Manager’s Group.  Program Managers are primarily responsible for managing client expectations and to ensure delivery meets expectations.  Responsibilities include working with Account Executives to manage smooth project start. Program Managers also negotiate contracts, coordinate design and technology staff activities, represent clients internally, maintain job review sites, create and manage budgets and schedules, hire contractors as needed and maintain team morale. Program Managers will negotiate with discipline leads for resource planning and allocation to projects.  Program Managers are also responsible for budget control and cost analysis (using SAP) on their project and communicating such details to the Executive Program Managers, and Executive Project Sponsors. All issues impacting deliverables, schedules, and budget should be maintained with thorough documentation. Proactively communicating schedule slips and scope change is imperative.  In addition to these tasks, Program Managers are expected to make a contribution in the defining and refining of Program Managers Group tasks and processes. Program Managers are expected to manage large-scale, multi-location, and cross-discipline projects.

A Senior Strategist is responsible for leading strategy engagements with VE clients.  You will work most heavily during the initial stage of engagements, helping clients identify new opportunities for growth, market expansion or finding competitive edge. Strategy problems are often broad and poorly defined so the Senior Strategist’s role is to bring shape to problems by triangulating on them from different angles and perspectives.
For this role in Geneva we are particularly looking for a candidate with strong technology experience in the areas of wireless communications, portable media, digital entertainment, and consumer electronic devices.  In addition an understanding of online and e-commerce business models and exposure to enabling software platforms and architectures would be highly beneficial.
The Senior Strategist will work closely with our large digital media group, which is responsible for information architecture, understanding user needs, developing wireframes, and working with the digital designers. The strategist will complement these efforts with a strong business and strategic perspective.
Daily Activities
The Senior Strategist works with and guides multi-disciplinary teams of strategists, industrial designers, engineers and digital designers providing a business perspective that will guide effort to the areas of greatest commercial value. Must be adaptable to fast-changing situations, and be quick-on-feet to answer tough questions from clients, responding with confidence and diplomacy to provide guidance, recommendations, and challenge clients’ assumptions. As the point-person on providing the early project vision, it is critical to project success that the Senior Strategist make clients feel comfortable, trusting and engaged in the process. 
The Senior Strategist must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment, but be pro-active and independent in running their aspect of projects, and in making critical decisions when information may be partial or conflicting.
The Senior Strategist will report to the Vice President of Strategy.
Skills
Outstanding verbal, writing and presentation skills. Must be comfortable presenting to C- and VP-level executives in both pitching new projects and deliverable presentation capacities. Should possess strong strategic insight, customer empathy and ability to analysis and distill complex business problems.  Must be skilled at Powerpoint. Experience with illustration tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio/OmniGraffle, would be a plus.

Qualifications
The goal of VE strategy is to provide integrated insight into new opportunities. To that end, a Senior Strategist must be comfortable in all of the following realms:

  • Understanding People - uncovering user needs, perceiving and responding to the dynamics of the client’s team, etc.
  • Understanding Business – providing a commercial perspective across new business models and markets to help our clients find opportunities for profitable growth
  • Understanding Technology – knowledgeable and curious about new technologies, and being able to see and apply them from fresh and user-oriented perspectives

 Past experience and education should include:

  • 7-10 years of experience in business strategy (consulting or inhouse), marketing or design, or a combination of these. Proven track record of helping clients identify and deliver on growth opportunities and bringing products or services to market
  • MA or MBA preferred, Bachelors related to any of the above three areas satisfactory
